De La Rue

Established 1813 as Thomas De La Rue, changed to “The De La Rue Company Limited” in 1958, later “The De La Rue Company plc” and in 1991 to “De La Rue plc.”  Maker of postage stamps (since 1855), paper money (since 1860), and physical security (from 1988-98).  De La Rue Giori, Switzerland formed in 1965, was sold in 2001 to partner Koenig & Bauer.   Printer of Euro banknotes for Ireland and others (the 6-character printer code prefix is “H”).  See also: Le Febure, Giori.
